Cocoon’s primary product range is silk-filled duvets and pillows. The
products comprise 100% mulberry silk layered within a cotton percale
casing, finished with cotton piping. In addition to our silk-filled product
range, we are expanding our collection to include silk bedding (sheets,
duvet covers and pillow cases), sleepwear, bath towels and accessories.
Cocoon’s manufacturer has been certified as an accredited silk
supplier in China and the silk has been analysed at a South African
National Standard (SANS) accredited laboratory in Cape Town to
provide customers with assurance that our products contain
only 100% silk.
Cocoon’s products can be tailor-made in terms of size and silk weight
to suit our customer’s requirements. All products are packaged in 100%
cotton drawstring bags, which allow for breathability and also minimise
the use of synthetic product packaging.

One cocoon yields approximately 1 kilometer of silk filament, and
each is stretched to the size of the product (cot, three quarter, queen,
king and extra length). The cocoons are then placed one on top of the
other to form multiple layers – you are literally sleeping under thousands
of delicate filaments. The layered silk forms a single cohesive unit, held in place
within the casing by internal threading in addition to a single box stitch around
the product perimeter. Silk does not bunch, so there is no need for conventional
box-stitching of the duvet, which can reduce the duvet’s draping quality and
compromise the warmth factor of the product.
The cotton percale (40x40/110x90) used for the product casing has
been specifically chosen to ensure quality and, at the same time, be
light enough to allow the duvet to drape luxuriously around one’s body.
The duvets range in both size (standard South African sizes) and
TOG value (warmth rating).

Cocoon's pillow range comprises a 100% silk-filled pillows and a 50:50
silk/ rayon pillow.
The 100% silk pillows contain approximately 500g of 100 % mulberry silk,
which has been wrapped to form the pillow. The pillows are dense, however,
incredibly soft. In the 50:50 pillows the rayon forms the centre of the pillow and
is wrapped in layer of silk, the purpose being to create a firmer pillow, yet retain
the benefits of silk. The pillows are covered with a cotton percale casing and
finished with cotton piping. Standard South African sizes (45 x 70) are
available and pillows can be custom-made according to firmness and size.
